They'll Play a Real Song
Before the Hour is Up.
A 90-minute hands-on ukulele workshop for children aged 5 to 15 — where every participant, regardless of age or musical background, leaves having played music for real.
Parents and accompanying adults are warmly invited to pick up a ukulele and join in.

The Instrument
Why the ukulele is the perfect first instrument for children
We've tried a lot of approaches. The ukulele wins every time — and the reason is surprisingly simple.
Small hands can do it
4 strings instead of 6. Lighter, shorter neck. Even a 5-year-old can hold a chord within minutes.
First win in 20 minutes
Children play a real, recognisable song within the first half-hour — the most powerful confidence builder there is.
No pressure to be good
The ukulele's playful personality removes the fear of failure. It gives every child permission to just try.
Everyone starts from zero
No musical background needed — not for the children, not for the adults joining in. The room starts equal.

For Every Age
The 5–15 age range works together — better than you'd expect
The mixed-age dynamic isn't a limitation. It's one of the best things about the workshop.
Respond immediately to the tactile joy of strumming. The rhythm and sound are enough — learning happens through play.
Ready to learn chord shapes and simple progressions. Experience the satisfaction of mastery — and the resilience of getting it wrong first.
Often the most surprised by how much they enjoy it. Tend to become informal mentors to younger children, which builds their own quiet confidence.
The older children become mentors without being asked to
When a 14-year-old naturally leans over to help a 7-year-old with their chord, something real happens — the older child's sense of capability and patience deepens, and the younger child's confidence grows in a way that no adult-led instruction could replicate. The room does that on its own.

For Parents
When a parent picks up a ukulele alongside their child,
everything changes
This isn't a "drop your child off" activity. The magic of HappierMusic is what happens in the room when everyone — at every age — is a beginner together.
They see you struggle — and succeed
When a parent picks up a ukulele and genuinely doesn't know what they're doing, the child internalises something important: it's safe not to know yet.
You create a shared story
"Remember when you got that chord before me?" — that's a memory they carry home together, and keep.
You actually enjoy yourself
Adults often find this the most genuinely fun 90 minutes they've had in a long time. No outcome to optimise. Just learning for its own sake.

The Journey
What happens in 90 minutes
Every participant — regardless of age — leaves having played a real song. Here's the arc of the session.
Holding the instrument
Everyone picks up a ukulele for the first time. We talk about what it is, why it sounds the way it does, and why that bright, warm tone already feels good.
First chord
One finger, one string. The entire room plays together. Younger children get there — sometimes faster than the adults. That moment is always the first laugh.
Strum pattern
We build the rhythm — the part that makes it feel like music rather than just noise. By this point, the room has found its flow.
First song — played in full
A real, recognisable song. Played by everyone, together. The energy in the room at this point is genuinely something to witness.
Taking it home
We talk about what comes next — how to keep playing, what to explore, and why starting something new is always worth doing.
This is the "Happier" part
HappierMusic isn't just about learning an instrument. It's about what happens when you give a group of people — of any age — the experience of learning something genuinely new, together.
The child who leaves thinking "I just played a song" has experienced something that carries beyond the room: that trying new things is safe, that not knowing yet is fine, and that they are more capable than they thought.
